What are executive functions?

Executive functioning skills are mental abilities that help people manage their time, stay organized, pay attention, and achieve goals. They are skills that you use every day. And, often they are skills that aren’t formally taught. We learn them through ‘osmosis’, by observing others — or often in the moment as a way to cope and manage. Often people learn executive functions due to an experience or failure.

Often those of us with Executive Dysfunction are highly creative, intelligent and energetic, but we are more prone to burnout, frustration, and mental and emotional challenges. I was fortunate enough to get help more than 30 years ago with my Executive Dysfunction and we have been able to help others find success with how they plan, prioritize, organize, focus, handle their emotions, and so much more!
